Grinder dial and click calculator
Many grinders adjust in clicks, with numbers printed on the dial and more than one full turn of range. Settings get written in different ways, such as 1.5.2 or 47 clicks. This calculator converts between the two on the same grinder.
Enter how many numbers your dial shows in one full turn and how many clicks sit between two numbers. Then convert a dial setting into clicks from zero, or a click count into a dial setting.

How it works
Clicks from zero = (rotations × numbers per rotation + number) × clicks per number + extra clicks.
Find zero first: close the burrs gently until they just touch or the dial stops, and count from there. With 10 numbers per turn and 3 clicks per number, setting 1.5.2 is (1 × 10 + 5) × 3 + 2 = 47 clicks.
A click count describes one grinder only. The same number of clicks on a different model, or even a different unit of the same model, can give a different grind, so it cannot translate settings between grinders.
